Timeline basics
Split a clip at the playhead, delete the part you don't need, undo a change, and use snapping in the Videospan editor's timeline.
The timeline is where you arrange your video. Split a clip, remove a section, and undo anything you change your mind about.
Steps
- Open a video and select Edit.
- Use the + and − buttons to zoom the timeline in and out.
- Play the video and pause where you want to split it. The red playhead marks the spot.
- Select the clip, then Split at Playhead (the scissors button). The clip is now two pieces.
- Select the piece you don't want and press Delete.
- To bring it back, select Undo or press Command Z (Ctrl Z on Windows). Redo puts the change back again.
Good to know
- Snapping. With snapping on, clips and the playhead snap to each other as you drag, so there are no tiny gaps. Turn it off for free movement.
- Keyboard shortcuts. Press the space bar to play and pause, Delete to remove what's selected, and Command D to duplicate it.
- Nothing is lost. Every change is saved as you go, and the original upload is never changed. Select Publish when your edit is ready.
