Resize and reframe a video
Make a vertical, square or 4:5 version of a Videospan video for social media, and choose what stays in the frame with Crop & position.
Making a version for Reels, Shorts or TikTok? Change the shape of your video in one click, then reframe it so the speaker stays in shot.
Steps
- Open a video and select Edit.
- With nothing selected, the inspector shows the canvas's Aspect Ratio.
- Select 9:16 for a vertical video, 1:1 for a square post, or 4:5 for feeds. Videospan reframes the video automatically to keep the speaker in shot.
- To choose what stays in the frame, select the video, then Crop & position.
- Pick a framing such as Smart position, Head centred, Fill or Fit, or drag the frame yourself and use the zoom slider.
- Select Apply framing, then Publish when you're ready.
Good to know
- Smart position keeps the speaker's face on the top-third line, using the faces detected in the video. It's applied automatically whenever you change the aspect ratio.
- Fit shows the whole video with bars above and below, instead of cropping it.
- Current keeps the framing as it is now, so you can leave without changing it.

To choose what stays in the frame, select the video, then Crop and position. Smart position, which keeps the face on the top-third line, is already applied. To change it, pick another option like Head centred, drag the frame yourself, or use the zoom slider. Select Apply framing. The speaker is centered in the new vertical frame.
